Absolutely AWESOME!
We had 235 Americans to go to Dominican Republic for ministry. In four days, we did 19 baseball clinics for 8,040 kids. There were 4,235 salvation decisions.
This is a phenomenal report! We had players from the New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, and Florida Marlins. In addition, God sent several wonderful pastors to teach God’s Word. We also had politicians, medical doctors, bankers, financial advisers, corporate CEO’s, business owners, plumbers, truck drivers, coaches, deacons, and former Mississippi State Head Baseball Coach Ron Polk, our pre-sermon entertainment.
I was happy to see many dads bring their sons. God used the men and their sons in ministries to feed poor people in villages. They also visited orphanages.
This year the SCORE staff plus many other support staff did a fabulous job. People like Randy Holland, Gio Llerena, J.J. Johnson, Mark Fitzpatrick, John Byczek, and Juan Pinol served to make this year a huge success.
I want to thank Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Chris Coghlan, Nelson Cruz, Mark Melancon, and Andy Benes for their service. Also, all the minor league players and professional coaches were true servants who made it a great week. Special thanks to Danny Sheaffer of the Houston Astros who has always been a wonderful example of a man on mission for God.
Also, special thanks to Baseball Chapel leaders in the Dominican Republic, Bill Stothers and Rich Ballette.
Finally, I cannot leave off Kevin Malone, former GM of the LA Dodgers, who serves on our Board of Directors. He is a true friend with a heart for God.
All of these men (and some I probably left off) have helped us have a sports ministry done in a professional way that is known around the world. Thank you men for helping us set a standard in sports evangelism with credibility, integrity, and passion. Because of you, many ministries throughout the world look at SCORE for partnership to take the Gospel to the nations through sports.
Let’s all keep working together to make Jesus known around the globe.
'til the nets are full,
